I went to get el kitten. She bolted under the fridge and won't come out. I am going to assume this is normal.

The lady lives in a large tenement building in Chinatown, like the shitty part where no white people go. She's pretty cool, Dutch-Indonesian, and wears a lot of shiny blue eyeshadow as I plan to do when I am old. Except, she is completely insane about cats. She has seven grown ones and four kittens (which she's giving away). But she's totally attached to them and once I picked one it was a terrible moment where she was so sad to see her go, although she wanted her to have a good home.

Then she walked me to the bus stop and I was so afraid I'd spill the kitten out of the carrier or step on it or something and she wouldn't let me take her home.

Also today I looked up sugar gliders, which are these interesting little marsupials that are like squirrels and will sit in your pocket. But I want a larger, smarter pet for once.

my friend pet-sat a sugar glider once. it was fun to watch it jump from your shirt to the curtain and back again. and even more fun to watch it jump to the wall and realize it couldn't stick there. it has such little, human-looking hands! but kittenz are definitely more fun.

congratulations new kitten-mom!

There's a totally crazy cat lady in my building. She has, at last count, twelve cats roaming around her apartment. She walks with them. Also, we think she communicates with them telepathically.

Have you named the kitten yet? I'm so jealous! I want a cat so badly! I'm determined to find an apartment where I can have pets when I move.

Some of my friends had sugar gliders once. For a while. Hee.

totally normal

for kittens to hide in new places.
she's freaked.
she'll come around. just wait.

a trick i found if you want them to sleep with you, that is, is to play with them in bed before you go to sleep.

then they'll start following you in there.

i've got 2 cats, and i'm well on my way to crazy, thanks.

I want a sugar glider sooooo bad. they are so cute and loving. But, man they require alot of attention. on average you have to spend something like four hours a day playing with them, or they get lonely and die.

Really?
Ok thanks for the reassurance. She hid somewhere last night in my room and I can't find her today. I'm freaking a bit b/c she hasn't touched her food or water (or litterbox).

she'll be ok.
what are you feeding her?
how old is she?
and is the litter box small enough for her to get into?
the little girls are usually more timid than the boys, fyi.
she'll be ok, really.
she's over 8 weeks, right?
