just go around to the search engines that you like and know people use and they all have a way to submit your site for consideration for free. It takes them a long ass time to get around to it usually but if you do that it will eventually come up in searches. There are sites that list a bunch of different search engines and you can try and register for them through there but the search engines are odd ones usually and I can't see that it is worth the pain in the ass.
