Remember how I was looking for a printing house? Well, I went with a small place called Ozone Press in Queens, a family business. Long story short, they messed up the order and when I called just now to try to get a rush reprint, they chewed my ear off. I thought America was the land of customer service! Next time I'm using 4 over 4 for sure.

When I saw that price on the b&w that you quoted I was excited and called them inquiring about doing something similar for the coney film fest. The woman was basically clueless, they don't take mac files? What kind of print house doesn't do the graphic industry standard? I had a bad feeling... Yes 4 over 4 is the way to go and you can walk there and pick them up.

I guess the lesson I've learned is that it's really worth the extra $20 to get a glossy color card made. The ones we got look like we made them at Kinko's -- which is fine, when you make them at Kinko's for $30, but not when they're supposed to be printed. And the real clincher is that woman's attitude. I would much rather pay the extra cash to take my business to a place where they don't yell at you.

Yup you sort of get what you pay for in this town, except when it comes to rents... I have such a low tolerance for BS that I stick with the same vendors, services etc. all of the time. Like anything until you find the good ones it's all trial and error...
