Nonsense NYC and Precision Accidents present:

Rockstarred and Feathered

An outcast cabaret, featuring an entire cast of freaks, hustlers, and deliriously demented show people, ripped from the barstools of San Francisco's weird, reviled, and almost-out-of-business Odeon Bar.

Or, a bizarre, boisterous underground party, with hysterical freaks from San Francisco.

For one night only, on Friday, July 12, professional chaostician and Odeon barkeep Chicken John -- founder of Cirkus Redickuless, sideman to GG Allin, and host of the You Asked for It game show -- delivers a bar full of 25 performers to Brooklyn's Happy Birthday Hideout. The transcontinental trek leaves no one behind, including Friday night headliners, Wednesday night regulars, sassy bartenders, and deadbeat door staff -- even the drunks have been scraped off the edge of the bar.

The bar has been barred! The bands have been banned! )

I have just joined this thing: [livejournal.com profile] kidnap. Please go avail yourselves of it, if you are as fearless as I.

I know a couple of people who have like, six jobs each. I guess they need them all, otherwise you'd think they'd quit some so other less-employed people like myself could have some. One girl works at a bar, a designer shop, and does hand-embroidery, and probably something else which I forget. One girl works at Halcyon, Don Hill's, the L Cafe, and a photography studio (no lie!).

I have two volunteer gigs which are like part-time jobs except the getting paid aspect, one of which will be turning into a sort-of paid job soon. But yesterday I did freelance reading for a literary agency and it was great. Doesn't pay as well as, say, working the door at True or even being a magician's assistant in the sideshow (a job obviously done for non-monetary rewards). Now if I can only find about five more little jobs like that, maybe I can get off the government dole...
