Tomorrow is my second-to-last day at the cafe. Goodbye Michael Showalter. Goodbye free muffins and ultimate sandwiches.

Last night coming off the L train I saw my friend Amalia who is moving away to California for grad school, with her bags all packed, waiting for the train to Penn Station. I could practically taste that last minute goodbye to all that, you and your backpack on the train platform, transient who knows what comes next feeling.

I haven't had that feeling in a very long time.

Two days ago we looked out the window and saw a woman lying in the street, shopping bag askew, unconscious. The paramedics were already there and strapped her into a gurney and took her away. Everyone on the street had stopped to look and think "Holy shit, that could have been me." The taxis were backed up on this narrow midtown street but nobody was honking. There wasn't any car pulled over to indicate who had hit her. A man with a large camera appartus leaned over as they lifted her onto the gurney and took a photo.

Oh, sorry for the super-bummer last post. In truth, it's Hour Ten of a twelve-hour workday and the x-large pm coffee is beginning to activate the twitching mechanisms in me.

I too went to see the Matrix II, with a bunch of people whose reactions ranged from "It sucked but I'm going to see it again" to "Yeah! Rave all night!" to "Oh God, I will never see that two hours of my life again."

I liked the Gigery shots but it offended in many ways overall, mostly because it was so lazy in story and pacing. The white dread guys were really scary, because of the razors they wielded (totally ripped from the Buffy episode Hush! I so called it.) I can watch people get punched and shot and dive through windows but not get cut with a razor, safety or no.
