Accidentally slept til 3, as if I were sick. Just getting started now, as it gets dark out. All the hundred things I hoped to accomplish today are receding into the foreground. They all mix together, there's no sense in their order or importance. A chorus of wants and needs.
Last night Emily and I attended Thrift-On! at Botanica. What a good-hearted venture. They bring tons of old clothes and everybody just picks out what they want and brings their own stuff to get rid of. And DJ Shakey plays good records and people say nice things to each other and guard your pile of stuff. We met some people in town from SF who wanted to know where the party was at. So I sent them to Mehenata for Bulgarian dancing.
Oh and: this was probably the first time in two years I actually struck up conversation with people I didn't know in a bar. Do you guys talk to people you don't already know in bars? I just hardly ever see anybody doing it in NYC. Sure, at parties or even shows, but just not bars.
We scored so big: I got a pair of black kitten heels, silver strappy sandals, a green velvet 50's top, a yellow old-fashioned bathing suit. Em got a shiny red coat and a bunch of cozy sweaters. We are the luckiest girls. We came home and dumped out our haul all over the living room floor and gave thanks that we could do that without having to apologize to anyone. And ate cold potatoes.
