The night before we evacuated, we went down to the Maple Leaf bar for a mini early Mardi Gras parade. It was great to see everybody out in elaborate costumes in the 95 degree heat and crushing humidity. There were over 100 people there with dogs in costume too.
I have been looking over the photos I got from last week and wondering which of these places will survive. The Clover Grill, Tee-Eva's, the Mother-in-Law Lounge (At least the last two are cinderblock!). Mandich on St. Claude, where we had the most incredible yams of all time, staffed by beehived blowsy women, a place frozen in time.
