Queens cemetery vs. New Orleans cemetery. The historic house museum where my new office is lies right behind the St. Louis #3 cemetery, on the bayou. I haven't had a chance to walk back there yet as it's only my 2nd day on the job.

The Pitot House was built in 1799 and the first mayor of New Orleans lived here. In the morning the assistant and I come and open all the green shutters and hook them back so light can come in on the 1700s furniture (the punkah aka fly swatter attached to the ceiling). There is a big garden with ginger and grapefruit trees and magnolias and cycads blooming.

My friend got this adorable puppy. She's only 10 weeks old and already 25 lbs. He works in a restaurant and is gone most of the night so after I get off work I drop by and take her (Ingrid) out on the town to meet her adoring public.

Middle-aged Southern ladies in particular love her and can barely bring themselves to walk away after 20 minutes of cooing and kisses and exclaiming over her unusual coloring.

She has endless energy, huge paws and chews nonstop. She prefers hands but will settle for a chew toy or the couch or the rug. She is like a little rocket train that runs right over you. She follows you from room to room.
