This Saturday I'll be selling Reversible Skirt t-shirts at the Stain Wine bar (766 Grand St. in Wburg, between Graham and Humboldt) from 5-9 or so, and my partner from 8-11ish. They'll be $15 or $18 for embellished ones (we are starting to add tiny beads and embroidery). I can even do something custom ("FUCK YEAH"..."I AM THE BEST"..."GRANDMA ROCKS"...whatever).

Come by and say hi. It's part of a holiday art/craft fair thing. Not sure what else will be there, but it should be somewhat affordable.

p.s. where does one get an embroidery hoop in Manhattan? NYC really needs a Hobby Lobby. Seriously, if they opened one by my house, I would probably keep them in business. Not to mention all the knitsters.

If I don't end up going to Boston, I'm dropping by. Can you do a 'WTF' or 'o_O'? That would rule and I'd so get one.

i bought an embroidery hoop at pearl - not the paint store but the craft building across the street and down the block.

Easy. Come pick out the shirt and I can do it right there if it's not busy (and if I can get a hoop in time.)

Every time I get to go into a Hobby Lobby, I'm overwhelmed. It's like Supermarket Sweep or something.

ah well.

i feel your hobby lobby pain, though. i had a hard enough time just trying to figure out where to buy thread in greenpoint.

there is a michael's, i think, on staten island. you can probably apply the ikea principle - go once a year in a car and load up.

i worked at a hobby lobby in high school! i miss wasting my earnings on like, lavendar embroidery thread.

I just discovered the greatness of Hobby Lobby via a trip to Toledo. Don't know if Detroit even has one.

there is also something called like p&s fabrics on broadway below canal... they have a lot of stuff like that and serious yarn too. (a few blocks away from pearl craft on lipsand st.)

there isn't any in the fabric district?

I don't know, I see a lot of button stores and wholesale clothing stores and fabric stores but not many sewing/embroidering/knitting supply places. If they are here, they are all tiny and hidden.

P&S has EVERYTHING! I highly recommend them for anything you need for fabric, notions, knitting & embroidery stuff. They are a couple blocks south of Canal on Broadway with a teal awning. GO!

P&S def. has hoops in a huge variety of sizes and tons of embroidery threads/yarns/fabric. Hands-down favorite inexpensive crafting store in the city - I even have them on speed dial in my cell phone.
