Feb. 10th, 2003 09:55 pmTonight I worked in the store. It was real slow and I nearly died of having nothing to do. The other girl who worked with me is amazing. She is really pretty in this coltish, glowing way, like the kind of girl you worship when you are 12. And, she is very thoughtful and not stuck-up.
Everyone who works there is good and doesn't break the rules, although they will criticize their manager and be reasonable about stuff. I have to get them to the point where we are all reading magazines and knitting and on the phone and stuff. Because otherwise we will all die together of boredom.
I'm looking forward to spending a bit more time at home. It feels like I only drop by every four days or so to change clothes and nurture fishes. The girl in the store today goes "What do you do besides work here and the other place?" and I didn't know what to say. I used to work at a circus and live in a nonprofit arts organization. And now? I don't know what I do.

Date: 2003-02-11 11:27 am (UTC)myself, i'm on the portland winter-hibernation/summer-activity schedule. we're all in digest and discuss mode in preparation for the whirlwhind of summer creativity. i think these periods are good because they give you time to analyze and improve on the times when you don't have time to even think about what you're doing.
i feel like too many of my good friends have their nose to the mill, working themselves to the bone right now. i think it's something in the water. economy, war, and all that other bad stuff. i have my fingers x'ed for all of us
