Feb. 16th, 2003 06:17 pmHello. My tedious yet easy part-time jobs have eaten my brain. However, the rest of the time is nonstop partying, which I missed.
Last night I went over to Heather and Nelson's place in Dumbo because she was selling some of her gigantic closet of vintage clothes. I got the leopard coat I have been destined to have forever, and she greeted us with delicious Pimms-and-ginger-ales and fondue and elaborate tiny sandwiches. They are my new mentors, Nelson and Heather. He cuts hair (see: www.chaircuts.com) and she is a caterer and throws yummy dinner parties and wears hair extensions and used to be a dominatrix. They are fascinating and also the warmest nicest people. I am lucky to know so many great people -- I used to be delighted every time I met someone who was amazing, but now I tend to overlook it. From now on I will recognize their amazingness more often instead of taking it for granted.
Me and Jen and Ben went to lots of parties in hired cars and danced and they did Jazzercise moves and talked to cute boys. And I stood by and laughed, but not at them, with them. Also we got a little lost in Dumbo and my legs nearly froze off. And I had a nice long drunk conversation with Dick from Coney Island about why I'm not performing anymore.
Today I opened the store BY MYSELF for the first time. This is a big deal because it involves an alarm system and other nerve-wracking stuff. Tomorrow I'll be there ALONE all day. Which will be great in some ways and scary in other ways...
