Last night I went to a party where a Japanese rocker guy combed his hair onstage and everybody made the floor quake up and down and I thought we would all bust through.

I wish the timing would have worked out better, man_size, so your trip wouldn't have been in vain. It was a pretty ugly scene out front. My friend that lives there waved me in and everybody else started howling. It was wack.

Because of everybody standing outside not going home, the cops showed up about 20 minutes after I arrived anyway. What a madhouse.

Sometimes it be like that, Alita. We managed to get as far as the waiting line on the stairwell [our second go at getting "in'] when I realized that the party was PACKED like sardines and tobacco exhaust made up 90% of the free air. I started to get dizzy with claustrophobia and opted to tip. Not a total bust, I got some good walking in from the G-train.

It didn't help that I was approx. 15-YEARS OLDER than everybody standing outside. I tried to borrow mascara to hide the grey hairs in my beard.

That night was an anomaly -- usually it's more of a mixed crowd and not an indie mecca. And not as packed -- they brought in a band that was really popular and got overloaded.

I knew something was up when I rounded the corner from the subway and saw five lanky dudes with THE EXACT SAME HAIRCUT leaning feebly against the gas station wall.

We should try again next time...
