Today I got a chance to do something most people never get to do: see what it's like to BE DEFORMED FOR A DAY.

Last night I got home from work and realized I had big weird swollen itchy red spots on my elbows. They looked like really bad mosquito bites.

This morning I woke up and they were all over my knees and knuckles too! AND, my eyes were swollen up so much that I didn't even look like myself. I kind of looked like the people in that episode of Twilight Zone where the pretty girl gets the operation to look like all the ugly people.

And I had to go right to work and get people coffee while being deformed. And I couldn't even put makeup on to hide it because putting makeup on your deformed eyes is even worse than just having deformed eyes. I was so sad.

But then miraculously they fixed themselves by the afternoon.

I do believe you're the only other person I know who has seen that Twilight Zone episode.

also, good experiment, even though it wasn't quite deliberate. :)

When I was seven I used to hang out at my grandma's and sit on the floor and eat grapes and watch all those old episodes on TV. So they've permeated the way I think about the world.

My favorites are the one where they go to the diner and the fortune teller head starts freaking them the hell out. And the one where there's a cheesy monster on the wing of the plane and only William Shatner can see it.

you've got the hives! and not the band.

they're brought on by either allergies or mysterious nervousness & stress. if you think about them, scratch them or freak out, they spread! if you ignore them, forget about them or take an antihystamine [like benadryl] they go away.

i got them a few times when i was younger. they're scary! but they're also harmless.

That's so weird that they can tell when you're thinking about them. I distracted myself all morning and took Benadryl, that's probably what fixed it.

I still don't know what caused them.

when i got them before, the 3 times, it was all because i was stressed and upset, but also in denial about how seriously i was subliminally freaking out. the combo of not dealing with or disregarding my stress somehow compounds it and tries to get your attention subcutaneously! how crazy, huh?

I used to know a girl who'd get rashy whenever we had a test in college. Suck.

Ack! Do you think you had an allergic reaction to something? Sounds scary (not the looks, just the occurence). Glad you're better and hope it stays that way.

It must have been. But I have no idea to what and I've never gotten hives before from anything.

That Twilight Zone episode is awesome. I used to watch that show all the time when I was a kid.

p.s.
i know you said you've gotten your hair cut at the Beehive on Lorimer & Grand. What's it like over there? Pricey?

$40 for a wash & haircut, $12 for a bang trim.

They are very nice and actually listen to you.

Yeah, dude. "Eye of the Beholder". I used to watch TTZ when I was a kid, and now they have them again on the Sci Fi Channel. Don't watch them, though. They're not as good as when you were young.

I'm happy to hear that your elbow SARS is in remission.

Thanks, although now it's sort of back. I have to go take a leper bath.

Listen, WHAT'S HAPPENING WITH THE GIRL?
