Michael Showalter (from Wet Hot American Summer) came in and had a bagel. Me and Lily (the nice girl I work with) discussed how he's not friendly unless you acknowledge that you know who he is from his movie stardom. My theory is that he's shy and can't make an overture. Also one time he came in with a girl, reportedly.

I bit it on the steps in the bartending school office b/c of my Chinatown $2 flip-flops. I am nursing a 2-inch knot on my shin now with a classy trash bag full of ice. Thanks.

Last night I got on the train from the thrift party with some strangers who were also there. They wanted to know what I got so we gave each other a little what-I-got show on the way to Buttermilk (me)/Jay St.(them). Longest sustained conversation with strangers on the subway ever. We also discussed SkinCola, which [livejournal.com profile] mittenstein so adroitly pointed out.

That's all the news.
Suddenly I have so much filling-in/freelance work that I have to work every single day for like 3 weeks straight. Novel.

Are there any photos of you posted anywhere? I go into Buttermilk every 3-4 weeks, my friends live around the corner from there. Also you keep mentioning brooklyn spots I've either been to or wind up at, I'd like to see if I recognize you.

You should come to the Lucky Cat this Saturday, and bring whoever you can! [livejournal.com profile] pepper23 and [livejournal.com profile] saintwhocares are going to have their paintings there, and they have a bunch of freaky shit planned, it'll be cool.I did not make the cut,as I am a mere cartoonist and not a real "artist".But there might be a cartoonist's show there later, I'm talking to [livejournal.com profile] razorart about it.

I posted some on here about 1 million years ago.

I would like to go to that but pretty often I intend to go places and then realize I haven't been home in like 7 days or something.

It will be interesting to see where our paths end up crossing.

Ok..another little side note-whenever you ARE at "The Lucky Cat"....the cartoon portrait I did of Joi is behind the bar.
[livejournal.com profile] pepper23 can have his show, but my piece is on PERMANENT DISPLAY. heh-heh-heh.

totally useless story.

I forgot! I've got a story!
A few years ago, I was working as a bike messenger, and I had to deliver something to Stephen Dorff (he played the main villain in "Blade")in his hotel room.
EVERY FIVE SECONDS, HE SAID HIS FIRST NAME. But never his last name-he just kept dropping the name "stephen" into his conversation. In a normal conversation, do you say your own first name in every sentence? There was some chick with him who knew the Beastie Boys-(I saw her on tv)-I was totally preoccupied with her, like "holy shit, you know the beastie boys!!!' And i ignored him.
He wasn't an asshole, he was cool-I just think it was driving him nuts though that I wouldn't acknowledge who he was.Like I'm supposed to think-"hmm, Stephen? Stephen DORFF?????"

What a weird thing to do. My friend moved into her college dorm room one year, and her new roommate had already moved in, and she had put up 8x10 glossy photos of herself all over the room. In frames.

falling is the worst.
when i worked in philadelphia, i was walking up the steps of my office building. think cheesy marble and gold on a busy street. carrying dry cleaning. there were people ahead of me, and i full of sighs and dirty looks b.c they were walking so fucking slow. then i go to bound around them (also in flip flops, by the way) and get my foot caught in the dry cleaning bag and bam. then i had to go back to my office (in a skirt) with a scraped up knee. the office where i worked with my boyfriend that i was obsessed with for 2 years. the pits. so the fucking pits.

One time in the summer I was walking to the subway from my awful sublet in Long Island City, past the 1,800 auto parts garages where the dudes sit in chairs on the driveway all day, and my platform sandal strap broke on the uneven pavement. I tripped and fell into broken glass, my knee started bleeding, and my bagel sandwich flew out of my hand into the street.

And all the fuckin dudes who made noises at me every day when I walked by? They just sat and stared.

me neither. they're starting already this week.
exhausting. i wonder if this has ever worked out for them in the past. does it ever get them laid?
or is it just a men in packs thing.. they have to say something, so they say that?

Sometimes I think it's a cultural thing (behave badly and you get attention and scoldings from girls!) and other times I think they're just retarded. It almost never fails to enrage me, no matter how I try to not let it bother me.

Yeah, the old comedian/MC thing pretty much wins him a place in my heart, attitude notwithstanding.

I've been wondering for so long!

Some nasty new drink that is supposed to improve your skin. It's on subway ads. Personally, I would be embarrassed to be seen drinking it.

I've seen the subway ads, that's why I wonder about it!
how do you know it's really something you drink?
I thought maybe it was a weird carbonated, brown liquid that you put on your skin
(hey, you never know??!)

I think I saw a drink bottle in one of the ads. In any case yuck.

Pretty much by applying for every and any job that I saw out of desperation.

That's probably the main lesson I learned since college: It takes a long time to get a specific job, but if you really need one, you can get a random job doing something you never imagined doing.
