May. 5th, 2003 07:24 pmKind of a big weekend.
Hung out at the OTB (with a ton of old craggy Bukowksi dudes in trenchcoats and many other weird specimens of NY males) while friends put money on the ponies. Spotted the former
formerairline out the window of a Thai joint while eating incredible homemade coconut ice cream.
Oh yeah, ran a quarter-mile marathon down Houston St. with a giant chengwin and chunk and entourages and hundreds of flabby wheezing hipsters in ironic running outfits. They gave out granola bars and Red Bulls and held up signs saying "0.0015 miles!"
Went to Jersey City to a giant old factory building with 200 art studios in it (WOW) and our Rubulad party. Not bad except that every single tenant had to get in free, and their four friends, AND give us major attitude about it, as if they had something to prove. I would at least be nice to the people who were working at the giant interesting fun party going on for free in my building. Oh humanity.
Seriously, it sucks when people work so hard to put on an event, and other artists don't want to support them by paying a few bucks ($7 for an event with like 6 bands, a DJ, tons of art, cheap booze? Less than a movie) and can't even be friendly at the least. One day we'll live in a world where nobody overcharges for their shitty event and nobody feels like by getting in free they've somehow won.
The mystery rash seems to be subsiding but other times it looks exactly the same. Maybe I have my hope goggles on. I've never had any kind of sickness that didn't go away in 3 days or at least start to go away.
Blah blah. Where should I go on vacation? Someplace cheap and near and fun.
