Jun. 20th, 2003 05:33 pmThe first summer I lived in New York, I went to the bead shop on 36th St. and bought shells with green feathers on the back. I took them home to my loft in Williamsburg and hunched over them sewing green sequin and coral straps.
The next year I made a pink jellyfish umbrella.
The next year I just wore the shells and a low-key outfit. Alice-Mary however was a football mermaid and made a big tail out of astroturf and wore a jersey.
Today I briefly considered wearing a large puffy pink feather bedjacket and trying to make some kind of shell and going as a mollusc. But I think I'm going to wear a blue-green dress and pearls and stars, and be the reflection of the night sky in a tidepool.
