Sitting Very Still

Was my job this morning. Saturday I went in to get my hair colored at the "lab," where they wear snappy little black latex gloves and floor-length black aprons while they wash your hair and apply foil headdresses.

The lady put in a blonde streak and then she wanted to make it hot pink, purple and yellow. I put my foot down for red and orange.

Then today I went in at 8 a.m. (so early) and a french makeup artist ladled goop on my face and they made me wear too-big cargo pants and those silly wrestling-boot sneakers! And I got my hair cut onstage in front of about 150 attentive stylists, who all came up afterward and oohed and aahed and touched my head intimately (!) and took snapshots of me.

While he was cutting it I got freaked out because I asked them to keep it long and they said "How about one side" and I said "I don't think that counts." And then today he cut one side really short and the other side long! Yes, I have a sideways mullet.

But I like it, it brushes my shoulders and doesn't get so much in my eyes. You're warned, folks, this is some avant-garde shit. At least I didn't get the full-on Blade Runner treatment like the girl who had to wear a marching band jacket and little underwear shorts.

i always pity the bladerunner girls.

the touching by other stylists is so funny. i feel like i'm a living petting zoo.

I wish I didn't have a day job or else I'd go play guinea pig. It sounds like alot of fun actually, even if you have to look like someone from Bladrunner (that sounds neat actually!)
