the swastika started as a religious symbol in india long before the nazis started using it. i'm not entirely sure what it represented, but i've heard it's either vedic or buddhist and possibly represents fertility, the four forces of nature, good luck, or is a solar symbol

if you look at the shoes, it's the indian swastika that's used, not the nazi version. the nazi version is backwards and "spins" counterclockwise.
