Oct. 3rd, 2003 07:32 pmOk so I did it! It's all done. For now. I still have to probably take a subject test at some point, and oh yeah figure out which school to apply to and what field I want to study. But the GRE is done.
They tell you how you did right away, because it's all on computer. And I did almost exactly the same as I did on my SATs, a little worse on math since I haven't done any for 6 years. But good overall. I wrote a lengthy essay on contemporary art's power/intention to shock and disturb the public, with many examples from Un Chien Andalou to Arbus. I hope the graders are into it.
And now I want a black velvet to celebrate.
Tonight I am going to see this:
Towne Dandies
Funny half hour ghetto musical. This one is about cowboys. It is very silly, the story of two cowboys on a quest for the big belt buckle, lots of props, exercise equipment etc. There will be some bands playing after me but I don't know who.
Siberia
356 West 40th Street at 9th Avenue, Manhattan
9p; $?
Continues 8p on SATURDAY
212 333 4141
This guy is hysterical. He dances around and plays all the parts himself, with different hats made out of construction paper, and like picks up one prop and delivers a line, then runs to the other side of the stage and picks up a different prop and responds. Shit, it's good. And my girl Amanda is meeting me there, the sweetest little woods-bear of them all. Who wants to go?
