If anybody is driving up from the South (Atlanta, Charlotte, Asheville, etc.) to NYC or points nearby (DC will do as well), my friend Ben is available as co-driver, companion, a shoulder to cry on, provider of mix tapes, etc. He is ready whenever. Contact me to arrange.

Oh yeah? I always had the impression you were in Asheville for some reason, or maybe (favorite town name ever): Swannanoa. We grew up in Greenville SC but ventured far and wide (as far as we could without getting in trouble when we were 16).

oh wow you grew up there? i've visited a friend there on occasion and it seemed like a pretty sparse place to live, but maybe that was because he lived in some countryside subdivision.
yes i grew up in charlotte and went to school in boone, near asheville. swannanoa! you know what i like? kudzu.

Yeah I totally lived in one of the 800 million subdivisions myself. There's a little bit of a scene there despite the huge presence of Bob Jones Scary Christian University. The Fine Arts Center high school pretty much brings together all the funny freaky kids in town.

We get together in Greenville or Asheville at least once a year.

I hear Boone is great.

boone is great but not to live there, that's why i had to leave. i love the mountains so much, it's my favorite place to go, but boone was bad for me. at school my social life was completely depleted by the two facts that (a) i don't like coffee, and (b) i don't care to smoke pot. :/

Oh but do you like hippies?! Because there are plenty of those -- at least there were in Asheville. But it was awesome nevertheless. After living in Greenville we were like "Please, give us hippies. At least they aren't driving to the mall to hang out in the food court."
