I went to see a really good show last night by Hank Flynn at Collective Unconscious where he pretended to be:
Englebert Humperdinck
a late night classic rock/smooth jazz radio dj
a Von Dutch hat salesman
a Reverend/Used Car salesman
a poetry-reading CEO
the Ghost of Dale Earnhardt, driving around in a 92 Plymouth Acclaim, asking people driving/walking/riding bikes by if they wanted to race him.

Too bad that space is closing soon. At least there will be room for another health food store or the 15th bar to open on that block. Or maybe one of those boutiques that sell used 80s clothes for ridiculous fashion prices. Great.

I've seen some awesome stuff there over the years -- like Thanksgiving Chickscook, a giant feast with dessert cooked on the Tesla Coil shooting electricity across the room and a lounge singer dressed as a turkey. RIP Surf Reality & soon, Collective Unconscious. What will arise in its (not literal) place I wonder?

I hear that Collective may get a new space in the same building that the Downtown Community Television Center is located in.

its a great location... but .... where? the place is filled on all floors except the first, and they use that to shoot films. guess they can shoot durring the daytime.
