Oct. 30th, 2003 11:19 amThis is my favorite holiday season; lots of spook and pumpkin, not so much slush and advertising.
I haven't got a lot to say these days but I am reading with interest and poaching friends lists for more.
I saw the French Connection last night which was excellent, both for the story and for the awesome 70s sideburns and running-in-platforms and bellbottoms scenes.
If anybody can make a hat like this, I will shell out some monies for it (like, $35? Is that reasonable?). In black, kind of loose? with pom poms or small ears?
lorigami?
pomegranite? They got crochet caps for $85 on this site. I sense that girlshop takes 50% of the price probably. I hate their copywriters. They're all like "When you and the Hunk are lunching in Central Park..." Excuse me while I am barfing and not buying any of your stuff, although some of the designs are good.

Date: 2003-10-30 09:09 am (UTC)I would love it if it could be made of a thin, stretchy, silky/fuzzy wool -- not too bulky is what I'm getting at. Is there such a thing? I do a little crocheting myself (I gave up knitting because I'm more of an instant gratification person) so I've seen lots of different kinds of wool and it does vary wildly in price like you were talking about a couple days ago. Here in NYC we only have fancy knitting stores -- no Michaels or Joann or anything. If it would help, I could try to run by a store and pick out the wool and send it to you...
And the ears, it could either be like tiny tiny black and pink triangle ears, or small pom poms like they have, what do you think?
I'll wrap a tape measure around my head tonight and send you the measurements tomorrow or Saturday.
Yay!

Date: 2003-10-30 09:21 am (UTC)that one is knit and I don't knit. I could try to crochet the same hat, but..
It also looks pretty fitted and not being able to see the whole pattern, it might take me too long to figure it out.
I think this is beyond my skills to whip out quickly.
sorry
