Oct. 30th, 2003 12:24 pmActually more on girlshop.com -- looking through it I'm totally inspired, because a lot of the jewelry they sell is kind of boring, which makes me feel better about my stuff, which is at least mostly one-of-a-kind.
I would love to get on there, but would love even more to get my site polished up to rival it. I see lots of stuff on there (going for $100 & way up I might add) which the creative girls on LJ are besting all the time.
Percolating, percolating...maybe by Monday or Wednesday (come on, it's a big weekend) Reversible Skirt will be ready to start accepting new consigners! The good part for you (maker) is that you don't actually have to MAKE each piece ahead of time and keep an inventory. Just make a sample or two and send me photos. Then when they're ordered, I'll send you the specs. So everything is custom, and you don't waste time making stuff with the risk of not selling it. And I forget what I put up there, but my consignment rate will be 25%, unless it turns out to be just impossible. But it is a labor of love for me after all.
If you crafty girls are into this idea, email me at alitaforever@yahoo.com and we will talk. I'm looking at you,
orbitalocularit,
annamull, and the aforementioned crocheters! Although I should also say, if the setup isn't right for you, I promise to harbor no hard feelings.
Also I'm hoping to get this cool girl who makes cuff/armwarmer things. But we're not talking lame Urban Outfitters 13 year old armwarmers. We're talking sleek velvet reversible brocade pointed lovely things.

Date: 2003-10-30 02:21 pm (UTC)wouldn't be any skin off my nose, still can sell stuff on my own site, and I was thinking about doing something very similar with a few other crafty lj peeps.
Only thing that worried me was that I have a hard time keeping up with stuff like that and getting my stuff made. I need better organizational skills.
