My Day as an Undead Person

labrujahToday we dressed up like zombies and schlumped from Union Square to Herald, dribbling dyed-red pasta (I mean brains) along the way. We leaned menacingly on the windows of cafes, groaned, and walked into the sides of phone booths. We rode the escalators up and down in Macy's.
Best remark: "Hey, that guy's my dad!" (directed at Zeroboy dressed as an undead construction worker).
Worst: When the security guard at the Mall of America kicked us out.
The worst place to be Halloween evening: at work.
Thinking about the blimps and parade and dinner I am missing. Last-minute gluing and sewing and taping my costume together. It looks like chaos because it's supposed to.
I am swinging wildly between being excited to see the costumes and a vague dissatisfaction.
