Why won't gyms just tell you how much it costs to join over the phone? You have to physically go in, so they can give you the hard sell. It's like you're buying a car or something, where they have to size you up and see how much you're worth and how much they can squeeze out of you. So weird.

You heard it here first: brown, dark green & burgundy ink pens are the fashion-forward neo-retro thing for fall (at least, for office assistants who get to wield the Staples card.) I'm sick of lame Daily Candy & Vivian Lives & Sex & the City thinking they're the trend-makers.

When I was a kid,

I was greedy. After I finished my dish of Haagen-Dazs Vanilla Swiss Almond or Butter Pecan, I wanted more. I would sneak into the kitchen and steal the pint out of the freezer and run up into my room and sit inside my closet and eat it.

Of course in those days I couldn't finish a pint by myself, or I would hear my mom calling me, and realize I couldn't get it back into the freezer without her seeing me. So I'd hide it for a moment, fully intending to sneak it back very soon. But of course I'd forget until the next time I cleaned my closet out and discovered a very old pint buried under some school projects and shoes.
