Why won't gyms just tell you how much it costs to join over the phone? You have to physically go in, so they can give you the hard sell. It's like you're buying a car or something, where they have to size you up and see how much you're worth and how much they can squeeze out of you. So weird.

That's so wrong. My friend's membership there was $167 startup fee and 60-70 a month. And it's not even the nicest gym.

No wonder Americans are big and fat.
