It's really coming down
Jun. 14th, 2002 02:30 pmUsually I hate rainy days and tend to take them personally, but today has been great. My young man kicked me out of bed early and sent me off to the E. Village to return a movie armed with an extra-large umbrella. It's nice to be alone and walking around in the morning in a light rain in New York with no particular place to have to be.
Last night we had a big city vs. country argument wherein I tried to explain the appeal of picnics and driving around on country roads on summer nights and camping and insisted that it's not boring. Living in South Carolina, where your bars, theaters, even coffee shops are scarce, we were hardly ever bored. It didn't matter what we were doing -- it mattered what company you were keeping.
It is really an argument about fast vs. slow living, too. I like the fast but am also inclined to appreciate the slow.
