Remind me what you do if you have a sore throat and think you are getting sick?

I got already:
drink as much water as you can
take vitamin C
sleep
drink green tea

???
Have those zinc tablets worked for anyone? Like miraculously staved off a cold? Every time I try them they taste worse.

I haven't had a cold in three years and I chalk that up to Zicam. You have to use it as soon as you start to feel the symptoms of a cold. Friends that I have turned on to it when they have had a cold say that it cuts it down to 3 days instead of a week. I use Zicam swabs, it's in the shape of a q tip and you swab your nostrils. There's a pump also but I found that it pumps too much up your nose thus making you sneeze it out. May not work for everyone but it sure works great for me.

wah, unless you're like me and it stings like hell. i don't know why but i can't use the stuff without being totally incapacitated for a half hour.

there's raspberry zinc that's not terrible. and i think it does help.
and echinacea. and tea!
and cut down on dairy.

I had that stinging problem with the pump spray because you can't control the amount that gets pumped, it's way too much. No problem with the swabs though.

that first dude is right. I got two colds over christmas break, and each one only lasted, at most, maybe, 2 days with that zircam crap. i cannot recommend it enough. it might be like 10 bucks, though. but it totally works. garlic, echinacea, green tea, ginger, whatever, zircam worked. no, i don't work for zircam.

My sister swears by echinacea. Then there's gargling with hot salt water, or a diluted iodine solution.

when i begin to feel sick i drink ginger tea- it's a natural anti-bacterial! it may not keep you from getting sick, but i've found that if you drink it at least 2-3 times a day it will cut down on the severity of the symptoms and the cold will only last a few days instead of a week or more.

i always use halls cherry cough drops with zinc, vitamin c and echinaccea too- they don't taste bad like other straight zinc lozenges, though they are a bit sweet.

Ginger tea sounds good. And I just picked up those drops! They are very tolerable.

Also, you are so cute!

by all means...

take echinacea! it *really* works when you're coming down with something, or already sick. You can get it in capsules, as well as in tea.

and some kind of menthol/eucalyptus oil in your bathwater. it really helps with congestion/fatigue AND it gives you some nice TLC, too.

and Paul swears by chicken soup! with Matzoh balls - they don't help the cold, they're just delicious!

Buena suerte, brujah. I'm trying to stave off the same thing down here. Echinacea is really helping!

See, I heard that echinacea didn't really work! Like they did studies. But it sounds like lots of people think it does...

And chicken soup has total antisick medicine in it, that's also what studies showed. Thanks for the reminder!

honey to soothe &coat the throat.

&if you feel veery nutsy [&most certainly feeling the sick coming];
eat a few cloves of garlic; i cut them a little bit so i am not swallowing a huge clove.
run a HOTHOTHOT bath; as hot as you can handle.
the combo of the bath &garlic will make you sweat like a ninny; sweating out some of the narsty of the impending ick.
drink eXtra a lot of water as well.
best to go to sleep after said bath &wrap yourself in lots &lots of blankets.
[if your hair gets wet in bath, make sure it is completely dry before going to bed]
passout &sweat more while you are sleeping.
the girl i work w. ,as well as meself, do this &it works.
[&;amazingly, we never smell the neXt day, perhaps because we sweat the garlic out]

i supose though, if you are not sure you are sick [if you are not having any body aches yet, or head loopyness]; i recommend to knock it out w. plenty of C &E [E aids in ther absorption of C, so youre not just wasting the C]. i also take zinc/magnesium double dose. &a bowl of soup w. fresh steam'd vegetables.
&a movie w. a couple pots of tea.

Oh I definitely got the aches. I forgot about garlic! good idea. And I never heard about the sweating but it sounds crazy like it would really work. One garlic and heat binge coming up...
