Adventures at the DMV
Jun. 18th, 2002 05:51 pmThe people that worked there were so friendly and not grumpy...during my three-hour wait. Somehow I'd forgotten to bring a book or newspaper and had to content myself with listening to a mix tape I made circa 1998 and talking to my mom on the forbidden cell phone. I guess if all eighty people waiting were talking on their cell phones it would be an intolerable din. But me talking to my mom and the grandmas next to me teasing an Indian baby are all okay.
I thought I saw a guy I knew a little bit from my last job there and my immediate impulse was to hide.
Also they took a new photo of me and didn't tell me my hair was messed up. That's right, I will be a card-carrying legal driver again after two years of my license being stolen. No more getting carded out of Quintron shows!

Re: you need to know
Date: 2002-06-18 04:14 pm (UTC)Well, I heard of it but figured I had to go to the regular one because I don't actually own any photo i.d. except a canceled passport with me as a baby in the photo. I had to bring all kinds of ridiculous papers -- pay stubs, utility bills, a college transcript even -- to prove that I was me. I don't deserve the Express (but maybe I will now that I have paid my dues).
