back in action (sort of)
Jul. 22nd, 2002 04:59 pmJust returned from a trip to Ithaca for an annual festivity to find that Morgan cut the phone line in his building-rooms zeal. So we are phoneless (and my cell is doing this thing where it cuts off when I pick it up wrong) and Internetless. I am currently in a net cafe filled with yelling kids playing Counterstrike.
Everything seems different after only two days away. It's funny, coming back in the car I could feel all the usual thoughts reappearing. They'd been replaced with thoughts of yard sales, swimming holes, ice cream, trees, people I used to know when I was a teenager who kept being at the festival. But coming back they started to be about my possible new job, my young man, Flux -- the things I occupy myself with here.
One new big thought: Ben is coming to visit for August! This will be great. Ben was my closest confidante and partner in adventure for the high school years. He is always up for it. He is very silly and kind of like a puppy. People love him and so do I. At the same time, whenever a new person comes to stay with you, you kind of have to take care of them a bit. I don't mind -- I am infinitely nurturing.
