I GOT A JOB
Jul. 26th, 2002 12:59 amEverything will be different now. Sort of.
Hey! I'm an assistant literary agent! Watch out, world.
Seriously though, one thing weird about being unemployed is the sort-of stigma all wrapped up in freedom that you get. Like you should feel guilty about having your whole day free all the time mostly, because most people don't. Also that you don't have so much of an identity -- lucky for me I have lots of other things to define me besides a job. But there are so many people who are like "I'm a stock trader or ferry boat driver or whatever" and that totally defines them.
So now I'm basking in feeling accepted and wanted and useful and good at something, even though I haven't started yet. (Monday.) While simultaneously intimidated by the fact that I've promised to
1) edit and produce (meaning, lay out, photocopy, staple and distribute) a biweekly zine for the Queens Museum/Flux project
2) bartend for the circus nights, like every night
3) now have a 9-5 regular job
I predict sleeping will be the first thing to go.
