Date: 2004-12-08 08:14 am (UTC)...and another skating rink that i don't think exists anymore that was also in the top of a building.
i love winter festivals. i recently watched this awesome nbc movie called SNOWBEAST from the 70s which was all about a winter festival being tormented by an abominable snowman. i love the SNOWBEAST.

Date: 2004-12-08 07:38 pm (UTC)*did you remember that the winter and summer games used to be in the same year? i didn't, but i swore that i was somewhere around 5/6 when i wanted to be a luger, but i also remembered that there were summer games in 84 (mary lou retton). in case you ever need it for a trivia night or something, they had two winter games in the course of two years -- in 92 (albertville, france) and 94 (lillehammer, norway) to make the shift. i had to look it all up to figure out what was going on.

Date: 2004-12-09 09:06 am (UTC)I have some friends who got really into Street Luge. They made their own street luges. Too bad they aren't in NY, I'd hook you up.

Date: 2004-12-09 12:56 pm (UTC)as for the detail thing -- yeah, it's a curse and a blessing as they say -- though mostly a curse. i have about zero ability to just do anything approximately, and as a result it takes me twice as long to do something (although i don't have to redo it), which makes me a bad worker bee. i wish i had a job that could take better advantage of it -- sometimes i feel like i should be a librarian or something. but i'm glad it cracks you up.
