I'm writing an article about street food in NY. What should I write about? I'm planning to check out the Red Hook stands Saturday...

p.s. I want a watermelon margarita.

The Hester Street Squid Lady. I've heard that her lunchtime cart on Hester Street is incredible, but I've never been able to find her... If you are able to find out where and when she serves, I'd like to know!

Not the right season, but...

I'm always interested in who chooses to have chesnuts in winter and who doesn't.

Here is something that is in season: Shaved ice dudes. Are they licensed?

don't cover all the usual suspects (red hook or the arepas lady). both time out and newyork are out this week with cheap eat guides and the voice did their's a few months ago. i'd suggest biking around and finding some interesting new ones.

yeah. I've been picking through the vv guide. Problem is that it has to really be a stand or cart, not like a small restaurant.

There's a family that grills out on the sidewalk on Smith street on weekends. I think it's on Smith and Sackett (between Smith and Hoyt). Haven't had their food, but I'm tempted. They put out a sandwich board with prices. Definitely not covered by time out, etc. no cart, just a hibachi.

You've got to include the Dosa Guy who is always in Washington Square Park with his Dosa Cart. He's awesome and makes some kick ass dosa as well as veggie chicken wings, etc.
