i'm not sure i'd ever eat a crab cake in NY (MD snobbery, it's required if you were born in the state), but this would be good to know nonetheless -- like in case i ever want to get hard crabs and teach my friends how to pick them or something.

btw, have you ever considered moving to baltimore? i mean, not that i think AT ALL that you should leave new york, but i could see you super digging baltimore...eh, or maybe not -- TOO MANY frat boys! (but there are weird quirky parts as i'm sure you know)
part of the charm of the charm city is that you definitely can't get crab cakes like that in new york. that place city crab on park ave south scares the shit out of me.
It's interesting you'd ask that -- I kind of love the mix of Southerness and gritty urbanity of Baltimore. But at least for now, I think I need to live in a place with a wealth of weird/good things happening. I am pretty spoiled by NY. I do dream about SF, New Orleans, Berlin...
