Tonight we are going to Sears to have our portrait taken. There is a choice of backgrounds (see here).
I like the brown muslin or the snowflakes.

We will all be wearing turtlenecks and looking like asses. We will hang an 8x10 in the "den."

Awesome. I would go to Glamour Shots if any still existed.

I am trying to think of anything I want to bring as a prop.

I feel like I haven't seen one since 1998 or so, but then again I live in a city without malls, so what do I know?

Have you seen one?

Old Glory! Old Glory!

Also, it might be fun to do something with the big numbers. Those are always cheesy.

My friend has the greatest photo ever from his 8th grade dance, with the girl he lost his virginity to, with giant presents in the background.

When are we having that drink? I think I can drink again in a few days once my sickness has subsided.

Maybe instead of a drink, we should meet for some soup? Where can we get some soup?

I'm eating soup right now!

I'm kind of tired of it, though.
Maybe a burger?

Maybe. Or you could come over Thursday for Flux Thursday. I think it will be good this week.

I totally had a pair of those when I was in 6th grade. They're big in Texas, as are sweatshirts with bells and stocking appliques.

I would love to bring something really fucked up, like a dead rat, and just set it in the corner.

i am bringing a big ol' knife to my portrait.
i like the rat, or a hand just lying in the corner.
or a rat gnawing a hand.

It would be fun to get Gothed out, with "Washtub" and "Quiet Window". Do you think they would let you double up on props?
Where is there a Sears, around NYC?
I've been tempted to do the Kmart Portrait at Astor Place.

And the dead rat would definitely be a nice touch for the holidays.

these will be lovely portraits!

for some reason this reminded me of getting back school portraits and subsequently bursting into tears at how ugly they always were. hmmmm.

I hated how they would make you face one way with your torso, then point your chin the other way, or maybe put your hands up near your face in a little fan.
