Dec. 26th, 2002 09:02 amHere it is, Free Ebay Listings day, and me hundreds of miles away from my giant pile of extra stuff to sell.
In fact I'm supposed to go thrifting so the pile will only be growing today. I can't resist the opportunity to get some sundresses and Western wear. They just don't have it in NY like they do here.
Last night was awesome! Such great people. Jeff, who always understands me; Christa, the eager and enthusiastic Denver Cacophony Queen; and Mary and Diggie, two American originals to the extreme.
Mary used to own a fetishwear shop here that I used to peek in at when I was a wee lass wandering the mean streets on my own. I was scared of her dentist's chair. Now she has a place in Brooklyn and I believe in the EV too. She makes all those cute cuffs you see on the Youth of America, the ones with studs and hearts and stars? She is another small business idol. She says she runs a punk rock sweatshop (it's true, I've seen it).
And Diggie evidently used to be in a band called Foreskin 500 and they ran around naked taking drugs all the time.
Last night we had some drinks in a ratty old dive called the Lion's Lair, and heard some awesome stories about Mary and Diggie meeting there years ago, and D.'s current girlfriend confronting her in the bathroom for being a homewrecker. She showed us bite mark scars!
Then we went to a tiny nice little cocktail party with the old F500 band guys and saw some funny photos and petted some nice cats and looked at a huge funny Great Dane-like dog that was so shy he kept looking out the bedroom door and then retreating real fast.
Nights like those remind me of all the good things about not being in New York -- stars, (in general) nicer people, driving around and talking...
Also, one day to go!!!
