music swap?
Dec. 28th, 2002 03:11 pmI want some Modest Mouse albums. Which ones are super good?
If anybody has one or two and would like to tape them for me (a CD is nice but I like tapes fine), I'd be happy to paypal them a couple bucks for shipping & all.
Or I will happily tape you something in return. I just got Stevie Wonder's Greatest Hits 2...

Date: 2002-12-28 02:04 pm (UTC)Yeah his later stuff is uneven. I had Talking Book for a year and hated it, and then one day it all clicked into place and I couldn't stop listening to it.

Date: 2003-01-02 10:41 am (UTC)Building Something Out Of Nothing - A collection of older material (pre-Lonesome Crowded Midwest) that stole most listener's hearts. "All Nite Diner" is probably one of the best songs ever.
Lonesome Crowded Midwest - A little rawer and less polished / studio then their newer stuff. This record is great from start to finish and absolutely essential. "Cowboy Dan" is my favorite on this one. Or, maybe "Trailer Trash"? I dunno - they're both good.
Moon And Antarctica - Their major label debut. A lot more psychedelic with plenty of fancy studio production. Despite some indie purists' 'sellout' complaints this record has some great songs. A little darker and more detached then LCMidwest and definitely trippier.
Everywhere And His Nasty Parlor Tricks - This is a newish Ep that I think a lot of people over looked. It's pretty short but has some really beautiful, well written tracks that are almost a hybrid of The Moon and Antarctica and the Lonesome Crowded Midwest. There's also a bizarre instrumental track that reminds me of Vincent Gallo.
I have all these records and access to a cd burner - i'll be more then happy to mail you copies, if you're interested. I'd be more then happy to share. You should get the Ugly Cassanova record, too!
